IRON FOUNDRY

The union busters eliminated the last threat to the Japanese steel industry and got paid for their efforts. A strategic move to make America dependent on parts and steel fabrications forever. The price for car parts and construction steel has risen every year since the 1980's. The automakers succumbed to a Japanese offense that eroded their market share, today they need a bailout or go bust. When a country doesn't have iron foundry's it will not progress. The demise of the steel industry in America hurt a lot of towns that took pride in American made steel products. A lot of families struggled to make ends meet after the plants were closed in mass during the 1980's. I went from the shakeout to pouring hot iron, I loved to see the finished product, I had pride in what we were doing, we could compete with any foundry on Earth, the busters saw that as the problem. Our production relied on good molds coming from design. If the parameters were off we would lose a contract, it was the sample process that was a key. Dana Corporation got control of the foundry, we had a Bessemer contract with China, it would have kept us afloat, they sabotaged the design, we sent bad product, the foundry was shut down.

I see in Nigeria the need to operate Itakpe so that it want BE dependent on Asian steel forever, this is the time to get up or shut up. I can see the rational to want to move forward as a country, but ignoring the building of a infrastructure based on steel is ridiculous. Steel is the key to economic progress. The plant has met its potential but the strategic warfare coming from Asia eliminated it as a present threat to their dominance. The will to open Itakpe is not alive in the present decision makers here in Nigeria. It is just like the American sellout, a give away of destiny and self reliance.
